Donation & Fundraising Policy
We raise funds only for our educational charitable object and aim to treat donors fairly, respectfully and without undue pressure.
Ways to give
The website accepts one-off and recurring card donations through Stripe-hosted Checkout. General Fund donations support eligible educational activities according to need and trustee oversight. A donation made through a published project page is restricted to the stated project purpose, subject to the terms explained here.
Using project funds
Project pages explain intended delivery and eligible uses. If a campaign is underfunded, trustees may scale, delay or combine delivery where that remains consistent with the published purpose. If it reaches or exceeds its target, trustees may close fundraising or use additional restricted funds for the same or a closely connected stated purpose where law and the appeal wording permit. If the purpose cannot be carried out, trustees will follow charity law and seek any consent or authority required before redirecting restricted funds.
Acceptance and due diligence
Trustees may request information, apply proportionate due diligence, decline or return a donation where it is unlawful, suspected to involve fraud, sanctions or financial crime, carries an unacceptable condition, creates a conflict, may cause disproportionate harm or cannot be used for the charity’s object. A donor cannot create a new restriction merely by adding instructions outside an approved campaign.
Fees, records and privacy
Stripe deducts payment processing fees according to its agreement. Project totals show confirmed gross donations less refunds, before processing fees. We keep donation and transaction references for administration, accounting, fraud prevention and legal duties. We do not publish donor names unless a separate, informed permission process is introduced.
Recurring donations
Monthly donations continue until cancelled. Contact info@atharhub.uk using the donor email and enough transaction information for verification. Cancellation stops future charges after Stripe processes it; it does not automatically refund earlier donations.
Responsible fundraising
We do not use misleading claims, excessive pressure or exploit vulnerability. We take additional care where a person may need support to make an informed decision. Fundraising communications must be accurate, connected to our educational object and respectful of privacy. Suspected fraud is investigated and reported where required.
Refunds, complaints and review
Donations are generally final. Errors, duplicate or unauthorised payments and exceptional circumstances are considered under the Donation Refund Policy and applicable legal rights. Concerns follow our Complaints Policy. Trustees should approve operational thresholds and review this policy after material regulatory or fundraising changes.
Gift Aid
Gift Aid is disabled. We will not offer or claim it unless eligibility, HMRC recognition, declarations and administration have been formally established.
